Shepherding Groups

A Variety of Groups, for a Variety of People

SERENDIPITY GROUP

This Shepherd group meets monthly for a fellowship activity. Our Bible Study component is fulfilled by attending a weekly class of one's choice. Some of our past events have included picnics on Lake George and Sacandaga Lake, an Oktoberfest, a New Year's Eve-eve Party, a Fifties Dance Party, a chili supper, lasagna dinner, and a cookie exchange, and dessert, coffee, and conversation gatherings. New members (and new ideas) are always welcome. Contact Louise Lamby for more information at: Llamby2003@yahoo.com

THE VOORHEESVILLE GROUP

The Voorheesville Group has just completed a study of the basic tenets of the Lutheran faith. They plan to follow this with the study of the Fruits of the Spirit . They meet once a month for fellowship and bible study at various members homes. You can contact Karen Coats at kc12186@msn.com.

MARY CIRCLE

The Mary Circle meets the fourth Wednesday of each month from September until June, except for November-December when we have one Advent meeting in early December. We begin by attending worship together, then meet for a short business meeting and afterwards go out for lunch. Prayer is a vital part of our gathering together. We pray for our congregation, our world and for each other. We have prayer lists which we take home so that we can continue to pray for various intentions during the month.

Another important part of what we do is to collect things for various purposes. We collect MITES (small change such as pennies, nickels, dimes) for the Lutheran Women's Missionary League in order to support Mission Grants sponsored both by the national and the Atlantic District organizations. We collect cancelled stamps to provide funding for Atlantic District LWML events. We collect labels to support the work of Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services which cares for and educates people with learning disabilities. At the present time, we are also collecting recyclables to support the expenses of the Atlantic District LWML in hosting our national LWML convention in Pittsburgh in 2013.

We are open to all ladies of the congregation. We invite you to visit and join us in working to spread the Gospel through prayer and supporting mission work throughout the world. You can contact Alice Schuman at AJSRXFD@cs.com for more information.
